         ABOUT THE COLLEGE

Swami Devi Dayal Hospital and Dental College made an auspicious start in the year  2004  with an intake capacity of 100 students. Since its inception the institute has committed itself to provide the best education and  inculcate the best of  personal qualities among the students.

Located on NH-73 in lush green surroundings with the Shivalik  hills in its backdrop, the campus provides a peaceful and inspiring environment for the academic as well as overall development of the students. The college is a part of the Swami Devi Dayal  Group of Institutes and is located in the main campus. The college has world class infrastructure which is second to none and surpasses not only other  colleges of the region but also stands tall when compared to other colleges of national repute and intellectual capital.  The college has well equipped departments and laboratories serving the needs of both patients and students. The library is a scholar’s paradise with a wide variety of books and journals available to the students round the clock. Apart from the IT library, the campus is connected by a Wi-Fi server enabling wireless internet access at the user’s convenience.

Director- Principal’s desk

 

Dr. NC Rao is the Director Principal of the Dental College. He is a man of knowledge and discipline. He is a community Dentist of international repute. He is having more than 35 years clinical and teaching experience in the field of Dentistry.He has served as Principal H.P. Govt. dental College & Hospital, Shimla and Dean faculty of dental sciences H.P.U.He was the member of Dental Council of India for fifteen years. He was the member of Executive Council and also member of the Court of HP University. He has spoken at various national and international conferences several times and received honors for the same. Appreciating his achievements in the art and science of dentistry, services to the ailing and social services towards the community he has been awarded fellowship of international college of Dentists (FICD) and fellowship of Pierre Fouchard Academy (FPFA) USA. He has also been honoured with Bharat Gaurav award in recognition of meritorious services to the

community. He has published various articles in national and international journals. The college is bound to grow academically and intellectually under his guidance.

SDDHDC Barwala is 6 years young today, PROUD institution of our Management. We are trying that this  prime institution reaches from minimum to optimum and optimum to excellence with perfection. GENERAL HOSPITAL

The Institution is having its own100 bedded General Hospital which is operational and providing preventive & curative services and specialized services i.e. outdoor and indoor to the General Public.This Institution is also participating in the various National Health Programmes. The hospital is having all necessary facilities i.e clinical laboratories,X-ray ,Ultrasound,ECG etc.ICU & Critical services for trauma patients for teaching the dental students.The medical teaching faculty of the Dental College has free access to the general public for imparting the teaching to the dental students in basic medical subjects i.e. Medicine,Surgery,Anaesthesia etc. The Category wise bed distribution is as per DCI/MCI norms.

The Institution is having the necessary approval of the Haryana State Government to run the 100 bedded General Hospital.

 

 

COURSE OFFERED

BDS – 100 SEATS

 

BDS degree offered by this Institution is Recognized by Dental Council of India,Ministry of Health and Family Welfare,Govt. of India and the Institution  is affiliated to  Pt. B.D.Sharma University of Health Sciences,Rohtak

 

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

The undergraduate training programme leading to B.D.S. degree shall be of 5 years with 240 teaching days in each academic year.

The period of 5 years of study shall be divided in to 5 phases consisting of five professional examination each after one academic year.

ADMISSION TO THE COURSE

 

The admission to the BDS course shall be made on the terms and conditions as prescribed by the Government of Haryana from time to time.

 

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

 

i)                     He/she will attain the age of 17 years or more on 31-12-10.

 

 Note:      The age shall be determined as per entry in the Matriculation/ Secondary School Examination or any other examination recognized as equivalent thereto.

 

ii)            The candidate must have passed Senior School Certificate Examination(10+2) of Board of School Education, Haryana or an examination recognized as equivalent thereto with atleast 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and biology taken together and must have passed in the subjects of Physics,Chemistry,Biology and English individually in qualifying examination.

 

                  In respect of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes/Scheduled Tribes/Backward Class the marks obtained be read as 40% instead of 50%

Note:

 

1.. The candidates passing qualifying examination from National Open School shall be eligible provided they fulfill the conditions laid down at ii) above.

 

2..  Diploma in Pharmacy and Dressor’s course are not equivalent to 10+2 for the purpose of admission to BDS course .

Fee Structure

The fee will be charged strictly as fixed and notified by the Haryana State Fee Structure and Admission Committee  for Self Financed Dental Institutions notified by Govt. of Haryana.

Procedure and Schedule of Admission

The procedure and schedule of admission will be followed as per the guidelines issued by the State Admission Committee,Medical Education,Govt. of Haryana.

Medical Fitness Certificate

Candidates must produce a Medical Fitness Certificate from a Medical Board constituted/approved by Principal, Swami Devi Dyal Hospital & Dental College. The candidature of candidate found medically unfit is liable to be cancelled. The candidates who fail to attend the Medical Examination on the notified date are liable to forfeit the claim for admission and placement in waiting list.

     

Examination

 

The examination shall be held twice in a year,one regular in the month of July/August and the other supplementary in the month of Oct/Nov.

Sports

 

A Stadium , Playgrounds and other infrastructure for the outdoor games i.e. basketball,volleyball,cricket and badminton are available in the campus. Apart  from this, the facilities for indoor games are also available. The sports and athletics meet is held every year in the campus.

 

 

 

Transport

The management is running a fleet of modern and comfortable buses for day scholars from Ambala,Mohali,Chandigarh and Panchkula. The bus service is optional and running on no profit and no loss basis. Various pick up points have been identified in these towns to facilitate students to commute from the points nearest to their houses.

 

Hostel Facilities

 

Separate hostels for boys and girls are operational in the college campus from the beginning. The provision of 700 students in Boys hostel and 800 students in Girls Hostel have been made.Both the hostels are provided with facilities viz electricity, mess, direct line of telephone connection and round the clock security personnel are deployed for the security of the students

 

Migration:

 

(1)   Migration from one dental college to another is not a right of a student.  However, migration of students from one dental college to another dental college in India may be considered by the Dental Council of India, only in exceptional cases on extreme compassionate grounds*, provided the following criteria are fulfilled. Routine migrations on other ground shall not be allowed.

(2)   Both the colleges, i.e. one at which the student is studying at present and one to which migration is sought, are recognized by Dental Council of India.

(3)   The applicant candidate should have passed first professional BDS examination.

(4)   The applicant candidate submits his application for migration, complete in all respects, to all authorities concerned within a period of one month of passing (declaration of results) the first professional Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) examination.

(5)   The applicant candidate must submit an affidavit stating that he /she will pursue 240 days of prescribed study before appearing at IInd professional Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) examination at the transferee dental college, which should be duly certified by the Registrar of the concerned University in which he/she is seeking transfer. The tansfer will be applicable only after receipt of the affidavit.

Note 1:

(i)                  Migration is permitted only in the beginning of IInd year BDS Course in recognized Institutions.

(ii)                All applications for migration shall be referred to Dental Council of India by the college authorities. No Institution/University shall allow migration directly without the prior approval of the Council.

(iii)               Council reserves the right not to entertain any application which is not under the prescribed compassionate grounds and also to take independent decisions where applicant has been allowed to migrate without referring the same to the council.

Note 2: *Compassionate ground criteria:

(i)                  Death of supporting guardian.

(ii)                Disturbed conditions as declared by Government in the Dental College area.

 

Attendance requirement, Progress and conduct

(i)         75% in theory and 75% in practical/clinical in each year.

(ii)        In case of a subject in which there is no examination at the end of the

Academic year/semester, the percentage of attendance shall not be less than   70%. However, at the time of appearing for the professional examination in the subject, the aggregate percentage of attendance in the subject should satisfy condition (i) above.

        Ragging

“Ragging is a cognizable offence”. Ragging is strictly prohibited as per the orders of the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India. An affidavit will be taken from the parents and students of all classes to ensure that no incident of ragging may occur in the Institution.
