Nursing is an art and a science by which people are assisted in learning to care for themselves whenever possible and cared for by other professionals when they are unable to meet their own needs.
Nursing has evolved from an unstructured method of caring for the ill to a scientific profession. The result has been movement from the mystical beliefs of primitive times to a "high-tech, high-touch" era. Nursing combines art and science. Using scientific knowledge in a humane manner, nursing combines critical thinking skills with caring behaviors.
Nursing requires a delicate balance of promoting clients independence and dependence. Nursing focuses not on illness but rather on the client's response to illness. Nursing promotes health and help clients move to a higher level of wellness.
As each decade passes, nursing seems to become increasingly sensitive to health care needs, increasingly creative in meeting these needs, and more objective in analyzing its professional efforts and goals. Nursing is a dynamic profession and its practice is constantly changing. It is the noble professions, with a long and honorable tradition of services to humanity.
Nursing as a profession, with in the last decade has undergone a dramatic transformation in its practice, education and career opportunities. The dynamic changes occurring in society and health care arena are challenging professional nurses to focus on patient outcomes and emerging roles such as case managers and negotiator. To be responsible to the imminent challenges of the 21 st century, the current educational programs must produce nurses to be creative thinkers and implementers in their new roles. The nurses play a central role in the health care system in providing preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative services.
Today the rising awareness of society about health and various technological advances forcing the nursing profession to redefine the quality to promote the professional standards and to improve the patient outcomes and satisfaction.
The Swami Devi Dyal College of Nursing promotes personal, professional and academic development through the provision of teaching and practice based learning. The aim of the program is to foster the development of knowledge, skills, attitude, professional and personal values. On successful completion a graduate is eligible to apply for a professional registration with nursing council as well as awarded a B.Sc. Nursing Degree from Kurukshetra University , Kurukshetra / Pt. Rules & Guidelines:
The College has its rules and regulations according to the syllabus and INC. The annual performance is assessed on the basis of their work, conduction and attendance in the class room and in clinical area. It is mandatory for the students to have an aggregate of 75% attendance in theory classes & 100% in practical which is must for each student to appear in final examination. Students are required to follow the dress code strictly, observe punctuality and abide by the regulations of the department. Students have to complete all the requirements of their syllabus & the assignments assigned by respective teacher. 25% of marks in annual report will be based on the overall performance, fulfillment of assignment allotted to them and their day to day activities in school. Students have to adhere with the Rules & regulations of the college.

Nursing is the professional course and it is applied to all fields. Nursing person takes care for the sick and physically and unhealthy person. In every field person needs care to be healthy in life. Examination Structure:
The examination conducted after a complete academic year. The B.Sc. Nursing examination is held by Pt. Bhagwat Dyal University of Health Sciences, Rohtak and Kurukshetra University , Kurukshetra in the month of July. Each subject will have examination of 100 marks out of which 25% marks will from internal assessment and 75% marks will be from external exams. Student has to pass in each subject separately. The passing marks will be an aggregate of 50% separately in internal & external examination. The Practical Examination will be having of 200 marks which is sum of Internal and External of 100 marks each.

Faculty: - The College has highly qualified Principal with Phd. degree. The College faculty is well qualified with different specialties.
Labs: - Our College has well equipped laboratories like Fundamental of Nursing, Nutrition, Community Health Nursing, Midwifery & Gynecology, Computer lab, Anatomy and Physiology. Labs provide good environment to students for learning.
Facilities: - Our College is facilitated with all facilities required for the College. like labs, playground, auditorium, hospital, temple, canteen etc. College has its own hostel facilities for girls and boys separately. Buses are also there to transport students for Clinical areas to practice.
Events Conducted
There are many educational events organized on most of international days dedicated to humanity. The College also celebrates the Nurses week on the occasion of birth ceremony of Florence Nightingale(Nursing mother), Lamp Lighting Ceremony for enrolling the new students as nurse, New Year, Holi, Lohri, Diwali, Cultural and sports events etc. are also held to get the students relief from monotonous academic environment. The significance of health is getting marked prominence in our society, which denotes the contribution of Medical facilities and have a remarkable grip in acquiring our country's prosperity. To improve its standards, we have realized the need of sparkling presence of nursing education " Service" to the mankind is the primary function of the nurses and the reason for the existence of nursing profession
In this crucial time nursing profession provides an opportunity to gather courage to be human and to lead life for the sake of needy people. As everybody seeks a career which should not only be noble but it also ought to be productive. The influence of above concept made us to start an aspiring institution which can deliver a proficient and standardized nursing education.
We have promoted this premier school of nursing with sanctioned intake of 60 students from the academic year 2004 - 05 under the name Swami Devi Dyal School of Nursing which is affiliated with Haryana Nursing Registration Council (HNRC) and is approved by Govt. of Haryana. Institute is fully equipped with all infrastructure required as per norms laid down by Indian Nursing Council. Institute also have its own 100 bedded hospital i.e. Swami Devi Dyal General Hospital in the same campus. Students are also sent for experience in GH - 6, Panchkula for their specialties and Amritsar for their Psychiatric training. It will enhance the skills of students that will further help in their overall professional development.

Examination Structure
The students have an eligibility test after the three months of their admission into School of Nursing that is Preliminary Testing System. Every student has to appear in this test for the continuation of the course. After that the students have to go through annual examination conducted after a complete academic year. The G.N.M. examination is conducted by board of HNRC. Each subject will have examination of 100 marks out of which 25% marks will be from internal assessment and 75% marks will be from external exams. Student has to pass in each subject separately. The School of Nursing is situated in the premises of the Swami Devi Dyal General Hospital. The department has class rooms, library, demonstration labs, faculty room, computer lab, etc.
Faculty:- The School has well qualified & experienced B.Sc. & M.Sc. Nursing staff in various specialties. Our faculty is hard working, dedicated & committed towards the overall development of students including academic as well as co-curricular activities.
Labs: - The School has 6 well equipped laboratories like Fundamental of Nursing, Nutrition, Community Health Nursing, Midwifery & Gynaecology, Computer lab, Anatomy and Physiology. Labs provide conducive environment to students for practical learning.
Facilities: - Our School is equipped with all the facilities required for the School. The school is situated in the campus attached with General Hospital where students go for clinical practice. School has its own building for Boys and Girls Hostel.Transport facilities are always available for the students for clinical practices at General Hospital Sec - 6, Panchkula, for field visit at Barwala and RaipurRani. Recreational facilities are also there for students. The school is surrounded by the play ground, temple, canteen and other basic amenities.
